Forty-five days, 15 cities, nine countries, six airlines, 12 airplanes, four ships, three trains, and seven currencies later, we're back home. Our experiences were varied: from pubs in Dublin to an Ice bar in Helsinki; from fish and chips in London to borscht in St. Petersburg; from palaces to cottages, cities to farms, there was enough variety to keep us in constant anticipation of what was to be experienced around the next corner.
While some places were familiar others were new; some were comforting and others were hectic; some serene, others frenzied. But at no time did we wish we were someplace else (OK, maybe after eight hours in that cramped airline coach seat.)
But, as they say, it's always good to be home -- even when home may be 107°.
